Your Friend - Basic Mathematics

Graphs help us visualize data. What we see on the graph may help us interpret and analyze the data. The result is usually a better perspective that may not have been possible to acquire just by looking at a bunch of numbers.

Fractions are used to indicate the number of parts of a whole to be considered. You can use a fraction to show a ratio. In a ratio, the numerator shows the part of a group you are considering and the denominator shows the rest of the group.

Learning Math Is Fun!

Compatible Numbers

Compatible numbers are numbers that look nice or friendly with each other when we do calculations, including addition, subtraction, but especially - division.

Geometric Sequences

A sequence is a set of numbers that follow a pattern. A geometric sequence is a sequence where each term is found by multiplying or dividing the same value from one term to the next. We call this value "common ratio".

Arithmetic Sequences

An arithmetic sequence is a sequence where each term is found by adding or subtracting the same value from one term to the next. We call this value "common sum" or "common difference".

Calculation. Useful Tips

Memorize Multiplication Tables
Memorizing multiplication tables can instantly get answers to simple problems that are embedded within more difficult ones.
Remember Cool Multiplication Facts
For example, when multiplying by 5, your answer will always end in either a 0 or 5. Also, when multiplying a number by 12, it’s always 10 times plus two times that number.
Squares Are Your Friends
Large numbers present a different challenge. A good idea is to use the difference of squares (a square being a number multiplied by itself).
